On Saturday, June 6, our parking lot came alive with neighbors, local organizations, vendors, and shoppers for a Community Sale.
More than 200 people visited throughout the day to browse yard-sale treasures, shop for unique finds, connect with community organizations, and support local causes. The strong turnout made the event feel like a celebration of the people, creativity, and community spirit that make Highland Park special.
We were proud to partner with the Northside Outreach Center’s Thrift Shop for the event. We were also joined by the Highland Park Neighborhood Association and several Richmond-area organizations and small businesses, including PzlPlantz and All Walks of Knife.

PzlPlantz, a purveyor of rare and exotic houseplants, brought an eye-catching assortment of plants that added even more color and character to the sale.
All Walks of Knife, a new Richmond nonprofit that supports workforce development through culinary experiences, also participated. Consulting executive chef, Jayson Leek, offered knife sharpening in exchange for donations, giving visitors an opportunity to learn more about the organization’s mission while putting some of their well-used kitchen tools back into working order.

Eight neighborhood yard-sale booths rounded out the event, offering everything from household
goods and clothing to unexpected treasures waiting for a second life.
The spirit of reuse extended beyond the sale itself. We received 10 donations during the event, replenishing our store with items that we can resell at affordable prices while supporting Boaz & Ruth’s broader mission.
We are grateful to everyone who shopped, donated, volunteered, hosted a booth, and helped spread the word. We’re thrilled to see what is possible when neighbors come together to support one another and invest in their community, and we’re excited that every vendor and organization that took part said they’d be interested in doing it again.
Stay tuned for details about our next event: our Grand Reopening on July 18 from 10 am to 2 pm. We look forward to welcoming the community back for another special day!
